10 Ways To Romanticize Your Life This Summer

With longer days, warmer weather, and endless possibilities, there's no better time to add a little magic to your everyday life. Many of you are probably familiar with the concept of "Romanticizing Life," but if you aren't... Here is a quick breakdown.


The term "Romanticizing Life" is new and has gained popularity thanks to trends on TikTok, but the idea behind it isn't new. Romanticizing life is all about celebrating the small moments, noticing the beauty around us, and making the most out of life!


Today, I will be sharing ten ways you can start to romanticize your life this summer.

WAYS TO ROMANTICIZE YOUR LIFE THIS SUMMER:

1. HAVE A PICNIC

Whether it is by yourself or with a friend, picnics are a great way to get outdoors and enjoy nature! Lay down a blanket, kick off your shoes, and enjoy the sunshine.


THINGS TO BRING ON YOUR PICNIC:

  • Picnic blanket + some throw pillows if you're feeling fancy. (I like this blanket because it is waterproof and can be easily rolled up)

  • A book, coloring pages, speaker for music, or card games. (Check out some books I recommend here!)

  • A cooler for all of your drinks and cold food items.

  • A bottle of your favorite wine.

  • Snacks! I always like to bring tiny sandwiches, cheese + crackers, and fruit on my picnics.

  • Sun hat and sunglasses

  • Elevated table for food. This cute little tray makes the perfect spot for your food.




2. GO FOR A WALK


THINGS TO DO ON YOUR WALK:

  • Be mindful. While you are walking, notice the things around you. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell?

  • Listen to an audiobook or podcast. (Try Audible Premium Plus and get up to two free audiobooks!)

  • Put your phone away and enjoy time being alone with yourself.


3. ENJOY A SLOW START TO YOUR MORNING


IDEAS FOR YOUR MORNING:

  • Make a cup of coffee and sip it outside on the porch or in the backyard.

  • Do some morning journal prompts.

  • Go for a short, mindful walk around the neighborhood to get your body moving.

  • Read a chapter of a book.

  • Meditate or do yoga.

  • Make a yummy breakfast.

  • Listen to a podcast.

  • Write out your to-do list.

  • Put on a feel-good playlist.

  • Don't check your phone.

  • Do an extra long skin care routine.

  • Take time to do your hair.

4. BUY YOURSELF FLOWERS

My personal favorite place to buy affordable flowers is at Trader Joe's! They always have a great selection. Buy yourself a few different kinds of flowers and try your hand at flower arranging!


5. CREATE A SUMMER VISION BOARD

Get on Pinterest, print out some photos, and get creating! My favorite way to make vision boards is to glue the photos onto a piece of card stock, leaving the space in the middle empty. Then, I put it in a picture frame and use the empty space as a whiteboard!

I love doing it this way because then you have a reason to look at your vision board daily!







6. HOST A DINNER PARTY

Get your friends together for a summer dinner party! Pick a theme, set the menu, grab some decorations, and send out the invites!

7. TAKE YOURSELF ON A DATE


A FEW SOLO DATE IDEAS:

  • Take yourself out for coffee. Get a coffee and a pastry and sit in the coffee shop reading a book!

  • Get dressed up - hair, makeup, all of it - and take yourself to a restaurant you've been dying to try. Order a drink, appetizer, and entree.

  • Grab a coffee and go shopping! Check out some local boutiques or thrift stores.


8. GO TO A MOVIE

Whether it's a hot summer day and you want to escape the heat by going to an air-conditioned movie, or you want to catch a flick at your local drive-in movie theater, movies are a great summer activity. You can also set up a movie night in your own backyard using a sheet and a projector!



9. SET THE MOOD WHILE YOU COOK DINNER

Mood lighting and music are by far the easiest ways to transform a mundane task into something magical!

  • Light some candles.

  • Cue up a playlist you love.

  • Pick a recipe that makes you happy.


10. CREATE A SCRAPBOOK JOURNAL

Print out some photos and glue them into a scrapbook, notebook or journal. Then, add your notes about the photo. What is happening in that photo? Why is it important? How does it make you feel? This is a great way to practice gratitude and look back fondly on old memories.
